Hey Junior Shaggers,

In order to promote to the younger generation the fun of dancing the South Carolina State Dance, the Carolina Shag, the Beaufort Shag Club is pleased to sponsor a Junior Shag Program in the Beaufort area.

Each year on a Saturday in August (August 28 in 2010), we have our Beaufort Junior Shag Day. We invite a professional instructor (Ellen Taylor, a member of the Shaggers Hall of Fame and founder and chairman of the Ellen Taylor Foundation for Junior Shaggers came the last two years) to come teach juniors to dance the Carolina Shag. Refreshments are provided and over 80 juniors from Beaufort and the surrounding area come to enjoy learning and dancing the Shag.

In addition, each month except the summer months and December, the Beaufort Junior Shag Club meets on a Sunday afternoon from 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM at AMVETS on Ribaut Road in Port Royal for a dance party to learn and to dance. The 2010 dance party dates are January 24^th, February 21^st, March 21^st, April 11^th, September 12^th, October 24^th, and November 21^st. Instructors are on hand to teach shag steps from beginner through intermediate. Parents are welcome.

Dear Junior Shaggers and Parents,

It's time again for the Beaufort Shag Club's JUNIOR SHAG DAY on August 28th. Please mark your calendar now and make sure you and your friends attend and have fun learning and dancing the South Carolina State Dance, the Carolina Shag. The attached flyer will give you the details. Please make copies of the flyer for all your friends.

This year we have two sets of great instructors from Charleston, SC who will work with you on beginner steps if you are just learning, or on more advanced steps if you have already learned and are proficient at the beginner steps. And, of course, we'll have lots of snacks and pizza so you won't get hungry from all the dancing. Plus, you'll get a Junior Shag Day tee shirt.

We would really appreciate your signing up in advance if possible. That gives us some idea of the amount of pizza we need. If you have been before, I just need your name and current email address. If your friends who haven't been before want to register to come, it would be helpful if I had their name, age, male or female, a parent or guardian's name, a phone number and an email address, but I can also get by with the name, age and email address.
