Hey Junior Shaggers,
In order to promote to the younger generation the fun of dancing the South Carolina State Dance, the Carolina Shag, the Beaufort Shag Club is pleased to sponsor a Junior Shag Program in the Beaufort area.
Each year on a Saturday in August (August 27th in 2011), we have our Beaufort Junior Shag Day (Workshop). We invite a professional instructor to come teach juniors to dance the Carolina Shag. Refreshments are provided and over 80 juniors from Beaufort and the surrounding area come to enjoy learning and dancing the Shag.

In addition, each month except the summer months and December, the Beaufort Junior Shag Club meets on a Sunday afternoon from 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM at AMVETS on

Note: Our Junior Shag Day 2010 was a great success. We had almost 60 children in attendance. Instructors Jerry and Barbara Wade, Nancy Strother and Charlie Leonard were terrific. Everything could not have gone as smoothly as it did if it wasn’t for our club volunteers. Thank You!! If I tried to list eve-ryone who helped, I would certainly miss someone. However, a Great Big Thank You to Woody Oakley for heading up this workshop. I do want to recognize our tee shirt sponsors-Sea Island Rotary Club, Bay Street Trading Company, Sea Island Scene, Bundy Appraisal and Management. Without these sponsors, we could not have given the children the workshop tee shirts. Other sponsors were Bilo-Boundary Street who donated the drinks and the Kiwanis Club of Beaufort who gave a monetary donation.
